An earlier Age of Faith is evoked by American concert vocalist Linn Maxwell's portrayal, in music and narrative, of Hildegard of Bingen, 12-century German abbess, mystic and papal critic. Her 'visions', which she believed came from divine 'Living Light', were driving-force for a unique ministry of authorship and preaching, healing and music, doubly remarkable for a woman in the mediaeval Church. Maxwell's beautiful renderings of Hildegard's Latin liturgical sacred songs are spiritually uplifting.
